Kotak Education Foundation Announces 1,000 Scholarships for Class 10 Graduates in Mumbai

Mumbai: In a significant boost for education access among underprivileged youth, the Kotak Education Foundation (KEF)—the CSR arm of Kotak Mahindra Group—has launched the Kotak Junior Scholarship aimed at supporting 1,000 high-performing Class 10 graduates from low-income families across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Under this initiative, each selected student will receive ₹73,500 over a period of 21 months to cover education expenses for Class 11 and 12. The scholarship also offers academic mentorship, career guidance, and regular home visits, making it a comprehensive support system rather than just a financial grant.

Targeting Academic Excellence

The scholarship is open to students who:

  • Have scored above 85% in their Class 10 board exams (SSC, CBSE, or ICSE)

  • Have secured admission in a junior college in Mumbai

  • Belong to families with an annual income below ₹3.2 lakh

“This initiative is not only financial support but a structured framework to empower young minds with the academic and professional tools they need to succeed,” said Arati Kaulgud, Executive Committee Member and Head of Scholarship Programs at KEF.

Scholarship Benefits

The Kotak Junior Scholarship includes:

  • ₹3,500 per month for 21 months

  • Academic mentorship and exam preparation support

  • Career counselling and exposure visits

  • Regular home visits for ensuring educational continuity

Broader Mission

This initiative is part of KEF’s larger mission to promote educational equity through school-level interventions, vocational training, and higher education assistance. Since its inception in 2007, KEF has supported over 6,000 students, with more than 1,800 alumni successfully completing their studies and pursuing careers.

KEF also runs other impactful programmes such as the Kotak Kanya Scholarship for girls and Unnati, a livelihood training initiative for unemployed youth.

All educational CSR efforts are implemented under Kotak Karma, the social responsibility identity of Kotak Mahindra Group.

With this new scholarship programme, Kotak Education Foundation continues to reaffirm its commitment to nurturing talent and creating a more inclusive educational ecosystem.
